5 Reasons Arizona Should be Your Next Travel Nursing Destination
The state has bustling metro areas with tons of activities and places to visit
Arizona is a land of deserts, man-made lakes, and a really big canyon. You may think that with all that desert land, there may not be much going on, but it isn’t true. The state has bustling metro areas with tons of activities and places to visit. Remember to pack a hat and your sunscreen! Here are 5 reasons Arizona is a hot place for travel nurses.
It’s a Compact State!
If you’ve been following our previous blogs, you know the deal. Compact state licensing is the key to travel nursing opportunities. If you were licensed in a compact state, then you are eligible to work in one of the 29 states currently participating in the compact licensure. And with over one hundred hospitals that may need awesome nurses like you, Arizona could be the next step in your travel nursing journey. So now that that’s settled, let’s get to why you want to spend 13 weeks in the American Southwest.
It’s got a ton of history
Arizona was part of the wild west. Witness a reenactment of the legendary gunfight at the O.K. Corral in Tombstone. Visit one of the 24 national monuments, the most of any state. Learn about native tribes at the Museum of Northern Arizona, the Arizona Museum of Natural History, and visit the Navajo Nation. For those who like to know about verrrry ancient history, you can walk around the meteor crater or learn about the many dinosaur species found in Arizona.
It has a variety of activities — for real!
Arizona has activities from A-Z. (Get it?) Visit exotic animals at the Out of Africa Wildlife Park. See the 98 acres of the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, ranked one of the top ten museums in the country! Shop at the famous Tlaquepaque Arts and Crafts Village. Go out after dinner to the Desert Botanical Garden — it’s better at night! Mosey on over to a rodeo in Payson or Prescott (pronounced PRESS-kit). And if you’re a gambling nurse, you can bet your luck at one of the 19 casinos in the state.
It’s got tons of outdoor adventures
I mean, you can go to the Grand Canyon, or you can go to the Grand Canyon in a Pink Jeep! Visit America’s natural wonder with your nursing friends in style. If you’re not afraid of heights — or perhaps want to conquer them — you can ride a hot air balloon. If you need more of an adrenaline rush, jump out of a plane with Skydive Arizona, the largest skydiving facility in the world. More grounded nurses will enjoy the hiking in Sedona or standing still on the Four Corners Monument.
It’s got fabulous local food
That’s right — Arizona is actually a great place for farm to table restaurants, so you’re supporting the local farmers. Meat lovers will be in heaven because steakhouses are abundant in the state. Li’l Abner’s Steakhouse is one of the best, and the Blazin’ M Ranch offers you dinner and a cowboy show. For nurses needing to unwind with some friends, Arizona even has its own wine country with vineyards and tasting rooms just waiting to be visited.
